KANSHA - GRATITUDE (2024 NEWSLETTER)
Greetings Friends,
Fall is here! The season which draws a long sigh of relief after a busy spring and summer. With the shorter days we find our pace easing. The flow of guests has slowed, the garlic has been planted and the garden put to rest. When we sit down to prepare the newsletter it’s by the fire, scrolling through a season's worth of photos and memories and recounting summer's adventures. This provides an important moment for us to reflect and express kansha (gratitude and appreciation in Japanese). We'd like to extend a big thank you to all those who made the trip to stay with us in 2023! We have a few updates and information about bookings for 2024.
As full time innkeepers we’ve become quite attached to the land we live and work on and the guests we come to know. With our first year behind us we shifted focus to planting seeds to nourish ourselves and create the possibility of sharing our garden with you in the future. Our days began and ended in the garden. Fencing, building and filling our beds with seedlings and chipping pathways were our primary goals this year. We were happy with our first full garden and it’s casual, colorful abundance. We also repurposed the old guest storage shed and built the chicken coop for the couple dozen chickens new to the farm. Eggs and entertainment aplenty!
Our hospitality kitties Nori and Kombu grew a little but more in personality than physical stature. We love how so many of youentertained their insistence on being a part of your experience at LFC. They look forward to greeting and accompanying you around the property upon your return.
With Kansha we wish you all well. Mari, Jordy & Mimi
