LOPEZ FARM COTTAGES
Friends of Lopez Farm Cottages & Tent Camping,
As many of you know, after 25 memorable years, LFC owners John, Cathie and family decided to sell Lopez Farm Cottages & Tent Camping. Their hope was to find buyers that would continue the decades long tradition of running LFC with the casual yet intimate hospitality they have provided to guests since opening in 1996.
Last summer we took a leap of faith and decided to seize what we thought was an opportunity of a lifetime. John and Cathie generously shared memories, advice and plans they had hoped to see realized on the property that they never quite got around to. We shared the same vision and in the Fall of 2021 became the proud new owners. We have felt incredibly fortunate to have had such a warm and encouraging welcome by John and Cathie, the community on
the island, and the guests both old and new we’ve met this last year.
We moved here in the fall of 2021 and in preparation for our first summer, we launched the new website, built 5 furnished wall tents, installed a green house, and welcomed back the sheep to pasture. The cottages now all have cooktops, robes, house made granola, and Dirt Drive coffee roasted here on Lopez Island.
As the new owners we value stepping into a business with not only an existing
clientele but a loyal one. We’ve met people who have been coming here since the 90s, who came for their honeymoon, and many couples celebrating their anniversaries. There are the folks who live on the island that need a
getaway, the solo travelers that love the quietude, the family reunions, the cycling groups, and the friends on their annual camping trip who have reserved the same sites year after year because some traditions are best kept. We’ve met some of your dogs, your teenage kids (yes, we have maintained John and Cathie’s policies of no music and no kids under 14), your future in-laws and best friends. Naturally, there are plenty we didn’t get a chance to meet who’ve left kind notes in the journals that still remain in all the cottages. There have also been those we couldn’t please no matter how hard we tried and so we accept we can’t please everyone. We love how familiar you all are with this place. There is an intimacy here that can only be cultivated over many years, over many visits, over many memories. It’s a dance between hello and goodbye.
We've crossed the Labor Day threshold and are thrilled to have navigated our first summer of business. We can’t believe how fast the year has gone. The grass has remained optimistically green this year. The sheep seem pleased. The bees are humming around the greenhouse, and the deer still roam freely on the land. Salal and blackberries are ripe and ready. Our favorite recipe remains simple and sweet. Just pluck and eat.
If you are receiving this email, it’s because you were a guest of LFC before our time here. We would like to extend an invitation to come stay with us again. If we’ve already met you, come on back. Many of you have asked when we'll open the calendar for summer 2023 bookings. We're taking a moment to review our 2022 season and will open the calendar for those bookings by the 1st of December. You will receive an email at that time and we'll offer the calendar up to returning customers for two weeks prior to granting access to the general public.
As for 2022, time flies, especially summers in the Pacific Northwest, so we’ve created a special discount code just for you to use when you stay with us before the season shifts.
Come stay thru the end of 2022 and enjoy a 15% discount for your stay.

One of the five new wall tents.
The wall tents are serviced with comfy beds and bedding, a small wardrobe, cooler and a small battery pack for charging phones and providing power to a hanging light. We're working having these heated thru the winter.
